300… and counting

 David “Big
Papi” Ortiz is now in his twelfth year in the majors and his
sixth year in a Red Sox uniform and Papi has reached an important number,
three hundred, homeruns that is. Despite injuries to his wrist, and a long
recovery it can be said that Big Papi is back. With back-to-back homers in the
last two games the nation has to have confidence in this slugger’s comeback. At
this point Papi’s average is climbing and is now at .223 with ten homers. Still
low for a player whose career average is .283 with 300 homeruns. It might be a
slow comeback and possibly a slower season but Papi’s not done yet. Even with
the help of Papi’s two run homer against the royals, and Pedroria’s dinger in
the fifth the Sox lost their game on Thursday with a score of six to eight.
With the loss against the Royals brings a tie for first place of the AL East
with none other than the New York Yankees. Getting closer and closer to the
all-star break it’s hard to say who will grab the AL east:

 Yankees vs.
Red Sox:
WHO HAS WHAT?

Yankees:

·
Hitting: although I
would love to deny it the Yankees have good power hitters (Jeter, A-Rod,
Teixeira etc.)

·
Rivera: a closer that can save a game

·
Veterans: classic Yankee talents that lead their  team Jeter, A-rod, Pettite, and Posada

Red Sox:

·
Bullpen: the sox have great bullpen depth no matter who is
pitching you cannot go wrong. Lights out all day everyday

·
Speed: with Ellsbury and Pedroria with a combined fifty one
stolen bases this season

·
Youth: without the red sox veterans who knows where the Sox
would be … but the youth are the future with the red sox’s many twenty something’s
like Pedroria, Lester, and Ellsbury (the list goes on)

It’s a tight race but not for long, and I know who I want to
win! Until next time…
